Hi, I’m Ali from Domestech and I see it as my mission to teach, translate and grow your relationship with technology. From hands-on repairs, and upgrades, to advice, remote fixes, or even spending an afternoon going through how alexa works. No job is too big, too small or too tedious.
You have a driving instructor, car salesperson and a mechanic. It only makes sense to have the same with tech.
Based in Essex (Chelmsford) I work closely with local charities and organisations, I am enhanced DBS checked and have been supporting with domestic tech support, small charities and local companies for 9 years with no desire to slow down.
I feel very lucky to have grown up during the most exciting years for tech growth. I was around for dial-up internet, early mobile phones and not really being sure what to do with the internet (but that it was exciting). I adapted to it quickly whilst also having an appreciation for how quickly it’s all moved.
My tech journey started when I was just a toddler—mesmerised by my grandfather’s tech expertise. He was a top technician at Marconi in Chelmsford and installed some of the first colour television cameras worldwide. He used to tinker with computers in the early days which inspired me. I am eternally grateful for his patience, as my failed attempts to follow in his footsteps rendered my computers broken or disassembled far too often. He always showed me how to fix the problem and never made me feel a burden, this is something I like to echo with Domestech.
I get a great kick out of helping people access or become better acquainted with tech. Whilst sometimes a repair is necessary or a quick fix is crucial, I really enjoy the “teaching a person to fish, rather than giving a person a fish” way of working.
